The City has spent hundreds of thousands of dollars in trying to defend the indefensible. They have hired experts to proclaim such ideas that Chasse died of something called “excited delirium” rather than the 27 rib fractures and accompanying punctures of his lungs. The lawyers for the Chasse family deserve great credit for finally bringing the City to heel, and for forcing the disclosure of the investigative reports. These reports will greatly assist our cases against some of the same officers (Humphries and Nice) in support of our claims for negligent training and negligent retention. See this Willamette Week article discussing our cases.
